Board Members Testify at Budget Hearing
On April 8, 2013, Howard-Suamico Board of Education Members, Teresa Ford and Lisa Botsford, testified to the Joint Finance Committee during its budget hearing at the Lambeau Field Atrium. Representing the Board as its Public Policy Correspondent, Ford advocated in support of a school finance proposal offered by Wisconsin State Senators’ Ellis and Olsen – a plan that would increase the revenue cap per pupil adjustment by $150 in each year of the 2013-15 biennium. The Ellis/Olsen proposal, if adopted, will provide Wisconsin public schools with $382 million more under the revenue cap than Governor Walker’s revenue cap freeze proposal. As one of the ten lowest spending school districts in the state, these resources are vital in maintaining the quality programs, services and facilities necessary to ensure that every Howard-Suamico student is college and career ready.
