A PLEASANT, FRIENDLY ENVIRONMENT.
The District offers a comprehensive food service program. Full preparation centers are located at seven of our eight sites, and Howard Elementary School is a satellite site served by Bay View’s Foodservice. Breakfast and lunch are provided at all locations in accordance with National School Lunch and Breakfast Program standards. Additional a la carte options are available at Bay Port, Bay View, and Lineville, with an after-school snack line at Bay Port High School providing additional nourishment to those involved in extracurricular activities. The District also participates in the Elderly Nutrition Program allowing seniors to eat lunch at a discounted rate.
Nutritional Value of Menus
School meals provide 1/3 of the Recommended Dietary Allowances at lunch and 1/4 of the RDAs at breakfast. Menu and nutrition information is provided to assist with dietary planning (see links in the right margin for elementary menus and left margin for upper level meal components).
Computerized Meal Program
Each student has an individual meal account identified by the student’s district identification number. Payments must be made in advance via check or debit/credit card to provide account funds for mealtime purchases. Purchases are then deducted from the account balance. Negative balances are prohibited at the high school level and limited at the lower levels. Parents are asked to plan accordingly to ensure that a sufficient balance is available if a student plans to purchase meals at school. Free and reduced price meals are available for those in need of assistance.
